Tarih: 28.12.2011
Yer: Kandilli

Foresight brings together key agents of change and various sources of knowledge in order to develop strategic visions and anticipatory intelligence. It examines long-term futures with more of a holistic analysis than is typical in conventional forecasting activities, and with greater links to action and wider participation than do many futures studies. It features a long-term orientation the examination of a wide range of factors involved in social, technological, economic, ecological, political and other value systems the drawing on widely-distributed knowledge and the institutionalization and creation of networks. But it is not just a matter of ‘‘talking shop', or of unrestrained daydreaming about future visions. Foresight uses formal techniques and methods. This presentation will introduce Foresight concepts and methods, and will demonstrate their uses in different thematic and sectoral fields such as automotive and healthcare futures, and national/regional Science, Technology and Innovation policy making.

Dr. Ozcan Sarıtaş is based at the University of Manchester.
